TECHNOLOGIES AND AUTOMATIC CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR
THE PROCESSES OF ROLLING AND HARDWARE PRODUCTION
DEVELOPMENT OF THE ROLLING PRACTICES FOR THE ROUGHING MILLS
Since 1992 the RPC "Donix" has been developing new rolling and ingot drafting schedules as well as roll grooving modes for the roughing mills, allowing to reduce the expend coefficient of the production processes.
The suggested package plan includes:
- Optimization of the form of the working rolls passes to improve the ingot's central layers processing.
- Changing the rolling schedule: the ingot is turned with its big end forward to rolling, with a view to reducing the backfins at the ends of the ingot.
- Installation of the control systems of the roughing mill main drive, which ensure the ingot's firm biting and no-slip rolling.
- Optimization of the drafting schedules according to the new form of the rolls passes and the new rolling schedule.
The developments of the RPC "Donix" in the field of billet production processes are being successfully used at the rerolling plants of Ukrainian metallurgical works.
Introduction of the new designs of the working rolls passes on the blooming mills of Enakievo Metallurgical Works, Dneprodzerjynsk and Makeevka Integrated Metallurgical Works, on the blooming mills N°1 and N°2 of Krivoi Rog Integrated Mining and Metallurgical Works "Krivorozhstal" ensured the increase of the quality metal output by 5-8 kg per ton of the rolled stock.
Quality metal saving up to 12 kg per ton was achieved on the slabbing mill of Integrated Metallurgical Works "Zaporozhstal" and at the roughing and billet plants of KRIMMW "Krivorozhstal", due to reducing the backfins at the front and rear of the process workpiece and due to removing the probability of the process workpiece head rupture in the process of transit rolling on continuous mills after the blooming or slabbing process.
On the basis of continuous record of the equipment load and the power consumption for the metal deformation per rolling cycle, we have designed the automatic information-expert tracking system for the ingots heating and rolling process on the "roughing mill - continuous hot-rolling mill" complex. The system was introduced in 2000 and is in service on the slabbing mill of the OJSC "Zaporozhstal".
