TECHNOLOGIES FOR PLASMA-ARC TREATMENT OF THE SURFACE OF THE
LONG-LENGTH CYLINDRICAL FERROUS AND NON-FERROUS PRODUCTS.
PLASMA-ARC TREATMENT UNIT.
Plasma-arc treatment (PAT) technologies are environmentally appropriate and highly remunerative. They allow to prepare the rod surface and the semifinished product for further cold deformation (drawing or cold rolling), as well as to descale the surface of the long-length cylindrical ferrous and non-ferrous products and to remove process lubricants and other contaminants without the use of any harmful chemical substances in the production process.
PAT technologies are realized with the use of the plasma-arc treatment unit which is installed on the production line of the drawing mill. The unit can function as a separate production line (if equipped with the workpieces coiling and uncoiling devices)
The PAT unit allows:
- to descale the surface of the rod or of the semifinished product.
- to coat the surface of the rod or the semifinished product with the process coatings (liming, phosphatizing, boronizing and other processes).
- to modify the surface structure of the workpieces by means of quick heating with further sorbitizing or temper hardening.
- to increase the roughness of the semifinished product surface and therefore to capture the additional amount of the lubricant in the process of drawing and to increase the overall drawing.
- to remove the process lubricants from the surface of the finished wire.

The PAT unit has been efficiently used in the production division of the RPC "Donix" in Zaporozhye for two years.
The PAT technologies can be efficiently used in hardware industry.
