CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR THE PROCESSES OF STEELMAKING
TECHNOLOGY OF SEMIKILLED AND RIMMING STEEL PRODUCTION
USING THE INGOT OF A NEW RATIONAL FORM.
The use of the ingot of the new form is a modern progressive technology of semikilled and rimming steel production.
The technology allows:
- To reduce the specific metal consumption: for semikilled steel rolling — up to 1,04 - 1,07 t/t, for rimming steel rolling — up to 1,07 - 1,1 t/t.
For comparison.
- The following figures were achieved at the Ukrainian metallurgical works while using the traditional ingots rolling technology, where the ingots are poured into the big-end-down moulds: specific metal consumption for semikilled steel production — 1,09 - 1,11 t/t, for rimming steel production — 1,12 - 1,16 t/t.
- To increase the temperature of the ingots charge by 50 - 80°C and, as a result, to reduce the time of the ingots heating before rolling. The ingots of the rational form, delivered to the soaking pits division, have a temperature of 950 - 990°C.
For comparison.
- While using the traditional ingots rolling technology, where the ingots are poured into the big-end-down moulds, the maximum temperature of the ingots, delivered to the soaking pits division, makes 900 - 910°C.
- To reduce metal scaling in the pits by means of reducing the heating time.
According to the results of the researches carried out at a number of Ukrainian metallurgical works, the quality and the stress-strain properties of the billet, received from the ingot of the new rational form, don't differ from the corresponding characteristics of the billet, received by means of the traditional technology.
At present, taking into account the achieved discharge coefficients, the use of the ingot of the rational form can compete with the technology of the rolled stock production where continuous casters are used.
The technology of the rolled stock production where the ingot of the rational form is used, compared with the traditional technology, provides for partial replacement of the mould inventory, as well as for marginal changes in the modes of the ingots heating in the soaking pits and in the schedules of the ingots draughting on the roughing mills.
